Digimon are starting the new year with a set releasing on the 10th of January. Chain of Liberation otherwise known as EX08 contains 74 cards including 22 Commons, 20 Uncommons, 18 Rares, 12 Super Rares and 2 Secret Rares.
The set features a variety of Digimon, including both new and returning favourites. Some notable Digimon in this set are Koromon, Bukamon, Kokomon, Motimon, Tumblemon, DemiMeramon, Agumon, and Guilmon (X Antibody). The set also introduces new mechanics and powerful Digimon like Pyramidimon, which has a unique keyword effect called <Fragment> that allows it to withstand deletion by trashing specified digivolution cards.
Pokemon’sPrismatic Evolutionsdrop 1 is next on the 17th of January. Focusing on Eevee and it’s evolutions, this set contains 131 Main Set cards and 49 Secret Rares for a total of 180 cards.
The Eeveelutions will be showcasing their unique new powers as Stellar Tera Pokémon ex as seen in Japan’s Terastal Festival ex and ex Starter Deck Generations. With this set we will see 3 different kinds of reverse holo foiling - regular reverse holo, Poke Ball reverse holo and Master Ball reverse holo. As of writing this article we have yet to see many spoiled English cards from this set but from what we’ve been able to preview so far we can’t wait to get our hands on it!
Next up we have Supreme Darkness - Yu-Gi-Oh’s 7th Core Booster Set releasing on January 23rd. This set will contain 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, 10 Secret Rares and 1 Quarter Century Secret Rare making up 101 cards. 24 of these cards will also be available as Quarter Century Secret Rares.
The set introduces new members and support for various archetypes, including Abyss-, Arcana Force, Atlantean, Crystron, Elemental HERO, Evil HERO, Fiendsmith, Fusion, Gladiator Beast, Goblin Biker, HERO, Hi-Speedroid, Materiactor, Mermail, Metalmorph, Mulcharmy, Neos, Primite, roid, Shark, Six Strike, Snake-Eye, Synchro Dragon and the new archetype Argostars. The first print run of this set will contain a Supreme Darkness +1 Bonus Pack in the Booster Boxes.
Magic the Gathering are taking us back to the Plane of Innistrad with Innistrad Remastered releasing on January 24th. This Special Set contains 58 Main Set cards and 20 Bonus Cards.
Containing reprints from Innistrad sets across Magic’s history, we will see some returning key words like Disturb, Meld, Emerge, Madness, Escalate and Soul-Bond. You’ll also be able to get your hands on some exciting card treatments like the popular retro-frame and new movie poster-style showcase cards. Some fan-favourite characters have been spoiled for this set which should excite new and old players alike - this includes Liliana of the Veil, Emrakul, the Promised End and Edgar Markov who you’ll be able to pull Serialized, numbered 1-500, exclusively from Collector Boosters.
