Team Rocket is back!
For the Glory of Team Rocket! Welcome to the latest set ready to hit our shelves, the first we’ve seen from Team Rocket in almost twenty years…. Destined Rivals!
Check out the ponderings of one of our Pokémon Professors going into our first main Pokémon set of the year!
Let's… Journey together!
Get ready to hit the battlefield with the latest cards from Journey Together.
Starting with Electric types, as they are my favourite, we have the Iono deck staring
Iono's Bellibolt and Iono's Kilowattrel
Like most electric decks, get charged up and get swinging fast. Paired with raging bolt, we are coming in at lightning speed! Getting your Bellibolts up and running quickly is the goal so they can then begin laying energy across Iono Pokemon for Raging Bolt ex to use.
Iono’s Kilowattrel will help refill your hand as you seek energy to dump on the field.
Will this be better than Teal Mask Ogerpon combo? Watch this space!
Now time for N’s Zoroark ex, N’s Darumaka and N’s Reshiram
You will be mostly using N’s Darmanitan attack with N’s Zoroark against the evolution decks to knock out the weaker Pokémon, otherwise N’s Reshiram’s attacks will help put damage on the board and swing for return knockouts once your opponents start putting damage on you.
Anything that one shot N’s Zoroark ex is going to put you into a bit of trouble.
Have fun with this one!
With Lillie’s Clefairy, I imagine it will become a staple in psychic decks looking for their edge over all these dragon types otherwise you’ll likely find a home for this in decks looking to max out their bench with Area Zero Underdepths. Unlikely to be your main attacker, but I’m sure they will be popping up here and there.
Hop’s Pokémon are packing a punch! Hop’s Zacian ex will be seeing some play time likely partnered with Metang or Archaludon ex for a bit of energy acceleration but I can see it taking some great swings on the field. Hop’s Snorlax will help power up Hop’s Zacian attacks and Hop’s Cramorant is a great one prize attacker that requires little effort to field.
Mamoswine ex, search for any pokemon in the deck to put into your hand, promising ability to summon whoever you need most each turn (Pidgeot ex….). Then the attack starts off a little underwhelming but paired with the ability to summon it definitely gets better the longer this guy is on the field! The key will be getting the stage 2 Pokémon up and running as soon as you can!
Last one I’ll touch on is a local player’s absolute favourite. Wailord. The big boy. You want a big hitter, you got one. Wailord’s attack power will depend solely on how much energy you can get on him and you should be aiming to one hit KO everything in your path.
Excalibur will be your best bud here to accelerate heaps of energy to Wailord. Use everything you have to summon energy from your deck, earthen vessel, Crispin - go for gold here. Then don't forget to have all the super energy retrievals and super rods to put it back in your hand and deck for the next round! (maybe max rod will be your friend here)
Now time to hit the battlegrounds! See you out there.
