One of the best Dragon Ball players in NZ gives his thoughts on the new card game!

Dragon Ball Super Card Game - Fusion World is a brand new and exciting TCG, it’s the latest evolutionary step continuing from the original Dragon Ball Super Card Game – Masters.   

Released in Feb of 2024, this newer and much faster paced version of the already popular TCG has hit the ground running, with its easy to learn play technique and already established player network.

This new card game has a purpose-built online client where you can redeem code cards given when buying physical stock instore, this allows you to open packs online to create your own decks and battle other players around the world 24/7 to hone your growing skills ready for the next store championship. 

Leader cards are the heart and soul of your DBSCG deck, each player starts with 8 life, the aim of the game is to get your opponent down to 0 total life to win, you take your opponent’s life by attacking their leader card, each leader has their own unique set of skills, some are used offensively others can be defensive, choose your leader based on what style you wish to play the game. 

 

Existing sets – Awakened Pulse & 4 Pre-constructed decks including – Vegeta, Goku, Broly and Frieza

The first set dropped in Feb and quickly sold out, Bandai realising the card games popularity immediately release information on a second wave of set one product due around April/May – on top of sealed boosters we were also treated with great pre built decks (shown below)

These pre-built decks have proven to hold their own with a couple of the decks being considered as meta defining – including some colour staples

 

Blazing Aura - Set two is due to drop 10th May 2024 this new set adds another 144 new cards to the current pool, with this set hosting 4 new leaders with their own unique abilities, with the set reveals still ongoing it’s a little to early to tell what effect these cards will have on the meta going forward however a couple of reveals are looking promising

 

DBSCG  Fusion World has started with a hiss and a roar, with our local weekly tournaments hosting 15-25 players with just the first set released, these tournaments are open to the public and we encourage anyone who is interested in learning or even just watching the games to come along Tuesday night and see what it is about, the game is easy to learn and fun to play.
