A Message from our Managing Director
A New Era
I have the honour of writing this first piece, in our next adventure here at Hobby Lords.
While many of you are familiar with me, for those who aren't, I am Liam – the Managing Director, the ‘big picture’ man behind Hobby Lords. My role revolves around steering our team through the intricate landscapes of business and hobbies, ensuring cohesion and perpetuating the unique culture that defines us across all our endeavors, engagements, and communications.
Our venture stems from a multitude of motives. The shareholders and I are from diverse business backgrounds, and upon witnessing a prevalent corporatization across various sectors aswell as discontent among employees and customers alike, yet a noticeable absence of proactive initiatives to rectify the situation. That void in the market spurred us into action. Among other triggers (thank you, unnamed retailer, for the six-month wait on an in-stock item), we envisioned a haven – a place where family, friends, and customers could immerse themselves in warmth, joy, and fun. Our aim? To craft unforgettable experiences. Even now, attendees of our Dunedin Launch event reminisce about the sheer enjoyment they experienced – that's precisely what we aim to replicate everywhere.
Our mission? To deliver an unparalleled experience, infused with genuine care. Throughout my career, I've been admonished for taking things personally – whether it's interactions with clients, customers, or sales. And truthfully, they were right. I've always strived to ensure every encounter leaves a positive imprint. That's why you'll often find me at the Dunedin Flagship store, ready to engage in conversation. While I may not personally respond to every email or message (given the bustling nature of our operations), I make a concerted effort to do so whenever feasible.
As our enterprise expanded, so did our team. Maintaining our culture and ethos amidst growth became paramount. Thus, we implemented favorable policies, fostering camaraderie and shared purpose among our team members. I trust you've witnessed this reflected in our interactions and events.
Lastly, let me underscore that our foremost priority is always 'fun.' How do we infuse each experience, each event, with an element of enjoyment? While perfection may elude us at times, we remain committed to delivering our best. Your feedback is invaluable to us – we welcome it wholeheartedly.
If you've journeyed this far with me, here's a little reward. Our website and system represent a pinnacle of technological advancement in Oceania, two years in the making. This system will soon be integrated across all our game stores. As for the tidbit of information? It's designed for international use.
